External Business Signage

External Office business signs

Corporate Exterior Office Signage

External business signage for serviced offices, warehouses and outlets can be produced in a whole range of ways ranging from simple flat sign boards to 3D illuminated logos. Materials such as steel, aluminium or poly-carbonate plastics are used during manufacture to ensure the signage is long-lasting and suitable to withstand the four seasons.

For external office signage, your company logo can be produced as either individual lettering which mounts directly to an external wall, or a sign tray backboard can be produced with the logo lettering mounted to this.

The logo lettering can be produced in the following ways:

Signage on the front of a building is a great form of advertisement especially if you’re situated along a busy road with lots of passers-by who you can display your branding to. It also helps strengthen your brand awareness and makes the company look very professional to clients visiting your workplace.

Here's a few popular methods of production external office signage:

3D Office Signage

3D Painted Metal Office Signage

Three-dimensional painted metal logos and letters are commonly used for exterior business signage as they’re robust, long lasting and designed to withstand British weather. Fabricated by hand and constructed in either aluminium or steel, the letters are powder-coated in a range of RAL colours and pantone colours to achieve your required brand colours,

The logos are designed to be light-weight enough so they can be mounted to exterior cladding or bricked walls using a range of fixing methods from raised wall fixings so each letter is slightly raised off the wall, to flush wall fixings so the logo is mounted flat to the surface of the wall.

The depth of the letter or logo is also pre-determined during the design stage so you can choose to have the logo protruding more or less away from the building exterior.

An LED lighting system can also be incorporated into the signage to help illuminate the brand name and make the logo more visible.

Halo illuminated 3D logo

3D Halo back-lit illuminated logo signage

Halo-illuminated signs (also known as back-lit LED signs) are widely used across the signage industry for many businesses as they help illuminate the brand name making them more visible at night, especially during the darker winter months.

The logos are produced as three-dimensional signs in a range of materials such as acrylic, steel and aluminium, so they’re designed to be long-lasting and robust. Fabricated by hand, the letters can be painted in a range of RAL colours / pantone colours to achieve the branding colours required, or they can be constructed in a range of pre-coloured materials.

Each logo is built in such a way that the inside cavity of the letter is hollow so that a series of LED lighting modules can be discretely fitted inside with an acrylic diffuser lens which distributes the lighting behind the logo evenly and which gives the logo the halo-lighting effect. Designed to be light-weight so they can be mounted to an exterior wall, each section of the logo is mounted individually using stand-off fixings which position the logo slightly raised off the wall.

3D Rim & Return (metal and plastic) External Signage

The rim and return 3D logos are produced in both metal and acrylic for a number of reasons, mainly though as a manufacturing technique used for more complex logo designs as the metal is used as the core structure of the sign to help strengthen the logo in places and the acrylic is used either to help illuminate the design or as contrast between materials.

The signs are produced as three-dimensional logos in a range of materials such as acrylic, steel and aluminium, so they’re designed to be long-lasting and durable. Fabricated by hand, the letters can be painted in a range of colours or constructed in a range of pre-coloured materials to meet your branding requirements.

Each logo is built with a hollow cavity so that a series of LED lighting modules can be discretely fitted inside so that lighting can illuminate the logo from behind, or from the face of the sign depending on how you’d like the sign to illuminate. The signage can also be produced without lighting. The depth of the logo is also pre-determined during the design stage so you can choose to have the logo protruding more or less away from the building exterior. Designed to be light-weight so they can be mounted to an exterior wall, each section of the logo can be mounted either flush to the wall or on raised wall fixings.

3D Acrylic External Signage signs

3D Acrylic illuminated Office Signage

Three-dimensional acrylic logo signs are a great form of producing 3D external logos and used widely through-out the industry. The signage is produced in a range of glossy pre-coloured acrylic which are easy to maintain and look vibrant.

The acrylic signs are produced from a range of pre-coloured acrylic which is cut to size before being assembled by hand to create the desired depth of the logo. The depth of the letter or logo is pre-determined during the design stage so you can choose to have the logo as chunky or as slim-lined as you wish.

All sections of the logo are usually hollow to ensure they’re light-weight enough to be mounted to exterior cladding using a range of fixing methods from raised wall fixings so each letter is slightly raised off the wall, to flush wall fixings so the logo is mounted flat.

The hollow cavity of the letter also gives you the option of illuminating the logo internally with an LED lighting system so that the front and sides of the letters light up. The colour of the lighting is determined by the colour of the acrylic used.

Illuminated 3D Crest Logo Signage

Crest logo signs are produced in a similar way as the rim and return 3D signs however they’re usually produced as a complete unit rather than as individual letters or multiple sections which make up a logo. Produced in a mixture of metal for the outer casing and acrylic for the front of the sign, the combination of both ensures the structure of the logo in robust enough for external use, as well ensuring suitable materials are used to illuminate the design and clearly display the logo.

The signs are produced as three-dimensional logos in a range of materials such as acrylic, steel and aluminium, so they’re designed to be long-lasting and durable. Fabricated by hand, the outer casing of the sign can be painted in a range of colours or constructed in a range of pre-coloured materials such as translucent vinyl or acrylic to meet your branding requirements.

Each logo is built with a hollow cavity so that a series of LED lighting modules can be discretely fitted inside so that lighting can illuminate the logo within. The depth of the logo is also pre-determined during the design stage so you can choose to have the logo protruding more or less away from the building exterior.

Custom Made Sign Tray with Vinyl Graphics

Exterior sign trays are usually produced as square or rectangular sign boards, however they can also be produced in a number of bespoke shapes to suit the style of the company logo and to add character to the design.

Produced in aluminium by fabricating sections together to create depth, and powder-coated in a range of RAL colours, the sign trays can be produced to your desired thickness so that they protrude off the wall to add definition.

The logo is typically produced by applying a pre-coloured vinyl decal flush to the face of the sign tray, however raised lettering can be used to create a more three-dimensional sign and lighting modules are often incorporated to help illuminate the design.

Sign trays are designed to be light-weight so they can be mounted to external cladding and uneven surfaces. The materials used ensure that the sign is suitable for external use and robust enough to enhance the life of the product.

3D raised Stainless steel office signage letters

3D Stainless Steel Office Building Letters

Stainless steel lettering is widely used for building names and business signage as it can be produced in a number of font typefaces and a range of sizes to best suit the style needed for the front of a commercial premises. Stainless steel as a material is available in a range of colours and textures however the most commonly used steel finishes are brushed stainless steel and polished chrome stainless steel – both of which are coloured silver.

The lettering is machine cut before being assembled together by hand to produce each letter as an individual 3D typeface. The depth of the lettering is usually proportionate to the height of the text, both of which are pre-determined during the initial design stage.

Stainless steel signs are one of the most popular methods of producing signage because of the relatively low levels of maintenance needed, and because it’s such a versatile yet durable material to work with.

Lighting can also be incorporated into the lettering depending on the size of the logo and complexity of the design.

foamex 3D lettering

3D Painted Foamex Lettering & Logo

Foamex is a strong and durably plastic used to create light-weight lettering and logos, making it a great option to use for producing external signage lettering.

The letters are cut from a 19mm thick sheet of foamex plastic before being spray-painted in the desired pantone or RAL colour. It is one of the most commonly used materials in the sign industry because the method of production is usually a lot cheaper compared to hand fabricated metal or acrylic letters, yet the finished product often looks much like the finish you would expect from a 3D formed letter.

Each foamex letter is attached directly to the exterior of the building using as raised wall fixing which projects the letters off the wall by 1-2cm and which makes the logo appear to be floating off the wall.

Lighting is not available for this option.

Raised acrylic lettering

Raised Acrylic Flat Cut Letters & Logo

Acrylic such as Perspex is a popular choice of material used for sign making as it’s cost-effective, durable and available in a whole range of colours. Produced typically in thicknesses such as 5mm and 10mm, the acrylic when mounted to an external fascia of a building creates a slightly three-dimensional effect which is a much sought-after finish used by business owners.

The acrylic letters are cut from flat sheets of plastic to produce each individual letter or a collection of shapes which make up a logo design. Raised wall fixings are then applied to the back of the acrylic letters which ensures each letter is mounted securely to the wall and which help the acrylic letters stand proudly off the wall.

Acrylic is available in such a wide range of colours so you’re able to get a fairly close colour match to the colours used in your logo. Alternatively, if an exact pantone colour needs to be used for the logo signage then the acrylic letters or logo can be painted to achieve the colour reference required.

externally illuminated sign

Externally illuminated sign tray (with LED trough light)

External LED lights offer a great lighting solution for raised 3D letters on buildings as well as sign boards and shop fascias in all shapes and sizes. Available is a range of different sizes, the LED trough lights are made to order to your required size to ensure the lighting unit fits correctly.

The LED light modules used are usually the cold white LEDs which produce a bright white light to illuminate the sign or a warm white LED system can be used which creates a softer yellow light, both of which are suitable for lighting exterior signage.

The lights are typically mounted above the signage on raised wall bracket fixings which project the lighting unit away from the wall by about 200mm - 400mm depending on the size of the sign.

As standard, the outer casing of the light is painted in a black or white paint finish, however this can be changed to a RAL colour choice if required.
